During a typical week at BrooklynVegan we end up posting a lot of new videos. This week, for example, we had clips from Antwon, Rituals, Saint Rich and more. But there are many more we don’t get to… which is where this post comes in handy. Play catch-up with the latest eye candy from Phoenix, Disappears, Saint Rich, Anna Calvi, Jay Z & Justin Timberlake, Dizzee Rascal, and Frightened Rabbit, below.

Phoenix – “Entertainment” (A Take Away Show)
Phoenix (who’ll be in NYC in October) have performed a Take Away show before but this one, shot at the Palace of Versailles is a little different. Filmed at dawn before the gates opened, it was shot in one take using a camera strapped to a drone (whose shadow they clearly digitally wiped). At one point it goes from tight close-up to soaring at least 100 feet overhead. Most Take Away shows rely on intimacy. This one is breathtakingly widescreen.

Disappears – “Era”
Detroit’s Disappears released Era this week (and will be here soon too), their fourth album that finds them heading into previously untraveled gothy territory. The video for the title track is as stark as the music, with animated geometric shapes hand-drawn (with a Sharpie) by artist Alexander Stewart.

Dizzee Rascal – “I Don’t Need A Reason”
UK grime star and rapper Dizzee Rascal will return with his new album The Fifth this fall but you can check out first single “I Don’t Need A Reason” right here in video form. In it, Diz finds himself on a palatial estate in powdered wigs times with all sorts of shenanigans going on. Why? He don’t need a reason.

Anna Calvi – “Eliza”
“Eliza” is the first single from Anna Calvi‘s forthcoming sophomore album and the video matches the song’s dramatic romanticism. She spends most of it on the run — through forests, the rain and the occasional unexplained phenomena. Look for her in person when she plays NYC in October.

Jay Z & Justin Timberlake – “Holy Grail” Official Video
This week, Jay Z and JT premiered the video for the brilliant opening track on Jay’s new album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, on Facebook (via Billboard). They’ve changed up the song a bit for the video, adding to the overall weirdness.

Frightened Rabbit – “Wildest Moments” (Jessie Ware cover)
Often modern bands covering other modern bands can sound cooler than it actually ends up being, but this one worked out really well. Frightened Rabbit took on Jessie Ware’s “Wildest Moments” during a recent Gigwise session, and they really make it sound like one of their own songs while retaining the original’s passionate vocal delivery.
