Vinnie Paul of Pantera, RIP
Pantera posted the shocking news:
Vincent Paul Abbott aka Vinnie Paul has passed away.
Paul is best known for his work as the drummer in the bands
Pantera and Hellyeah.
No further details are available at this time.
The family requests you please respect their privacy during this time.
Rest in Peace, Vinnie.
UPDATE: “Vinnie’s family tells TMZ … he died in his sleep at his home in Las Vegas.”
The Phil Anselmo-led Pantera broke up in 2003, at which point Vinnie and his brother and Pantera bandmate Dimebag Darrell started the band Damageplan. Darrell was murdered on stage in 2004. Vinnie joined Hellyeah in 2006 and was still a member at the time of his death. Vinnie was 54, and was reportedly in Las Vegas where he has a home at the time of his death.
I don't have a friend in Vegas who hasn't ran into Vinnie Paul several times in the last few years. He was at every damn metal show I went to. I even saw him at the grocery store not long ago. Always had a smile on and always shot the shit with his fans. Sad day. #RIPVinniePaul
