One could easily be forgiven for thinking it was still the ’90s (outside of Portland). Green Day have the #1 album in the country (and they’ve been playing club shows), Temple of the Dog are touring, and people won’t stop talking about Pokemon. It just so happens to be the 25th anniversary of the first Lollapalooza this year, and in honor of that, Wasabassco Burlesque asked its audience to travel back to the ’90s for some grunge-inspired burlesque performances.

Wasapalooza, as the party was dubbed, was held at The Bell House on October 22nd and promised “a night of naughty Nirvana and sexy Soundgarden.” It was hosted by Nasty Canasta (who also performed twice including an awesome number with a grinder) and included performances from Amanda Whip, Dangrrr Doll, Delysia La Chatte, Mala Morrigan, Penny Wren, Puss-N-Boots, Raquel Reed, Sapphire Jones  and Sydni Deveraux. The performers stripped out of their flannel (or other garments or ape costumes) to hits from pop music’s angstiest era. One highlight of the night was the finale with Penny Wren dressing down as an adultified Bee Girl from Blind Melon’s “No Rain” video. Pictures of the night are in the gallery above.
