watch Ad Rock decry “homegrown terrorism” and hate crimes at Adam Yauch Park rally (video)

. . "These are our playgrounds, where we teach our kids to climb, run, live and dream together- all of the people of Brooklyn- Our Jewish kids, our Christian kids, our Muslim kids, our black kids, our Latino kids, our white kids, all of our kids. We will never allow hatred to take that away from us because love trumps hate. And whether or not the President-Elect condemns this act, we will. And more than that, this act of hatred brings us together, across all our lines of difference. Stronger, more united, more committed. Those Brooklyn values, those New York values, those American values. Equal justice under law. More united, more tolerant, more peaceful, more love, more playgrounds… All of our kids together." – Adam Horovitz ✌️❤️ . Around 2000 people showed up to Adam Yauch Park in Brooklyn on Sunday (11/20) for a rally decrying racism and violence after swastikas were found spraypainted in the park on Friday. Yauch’s Beastie Boys bandmate Adam “Ad Rock” Horovitz was in attendance and spoke:

I assume we’re all here today because we’re all thinking the same thing: spraypainting swastikas on a children’s playground is a messed up thing to do…to many of us it has special meaning, as this park is named for Adam Yauch who was my friend and bandmate for over 30 years. He was also someone that taught nonviolence in his music, in his life to all of us. This is more about someone in New York City linking Nazi Germany to Donald Trump in a “Hell Yeah” kind of way. At a children’s park.

Ad Rock went on to talk about other hate crimes that have happened in NYC and other places around the country since the elecion. “We have elected a president who has given the message that it’s ok to write ‘White Power’ in high school hallways, that it’s ok to attack women and girls, and that Latinos and Muslims and Jews are bad people, and that you can electroshock ‘the gay’ out of somebody…come on!” then adding “This is homegrown terrorism for real… I reject Donald Trump’s vision for America. New York City, I’m asking you to do the same.” Watch video of his speech below.

Horovitz’s wife Kathleen Hanna was in attendance as was Ben Stiller and DJ Hurricane. As the Daily News reports, acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez was also on hand, vowing to aggressively prosecute all hate crimes. “We will not stand for bigotry in our backyard,” he said.
