watch Antibalas’ new “Gold Rush” video

Brooklyn afrobeat band Antibalas returned last year with their new album Where The Gods Are In Peace on Daptone, and they’ve now made a video for “Gold Rush” off that album. The band tells us that the video “is a tribute to forgotten indigenous people of America and the world. Inspired by the devastation of the California Gold Rush, the narrative tells the story of the effects of perpetual, divisive greed in America while paying homage to Black Hawk, Sun Dancer, Sitting Bull and demands reparations be made to indigenous and African heroes who tirelessly fought for freedom and self-determination.” It stars Native Indian actress Tess Resse, along with dancers Femi Olagoke, Katelyn Caffrey, Krystal Hardwick, Nailah Oshun Amayo Mazer and Amayo, and Antibalas themselves performing. It premieres below.

As mentioned, Antibalas are also touring soon, including hometown shows at Brooklyn Bowl on February 16 and 17. Both of those shows are with afrobeat-meets-stoner-metal band Here Lies Man, who are led by Antibalas member Marcos Garcia. Dap-Kings’ Binky Griptite DJs night one and dj.henri from DJs night two. Tickets for both shows are still available. All dates are listed below.
