Billie Joe Armstrong‘s new band The Longshot are on tour now, and these shows are much more intimate chances to see Billie Joe than when he tours with Green Day. Last night (5/22), they played their first of three NYC shows. It happened at new venue Coney Island Baby (which is partially run by Billie Joe’s pal Jesse Malin), which recently opened in the old Brownies/HiFi space.

They played all 11 songs from their debut album Love Is For Losers including their cover of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Goodbye to Romance,” and also did a bunch of other covers, including the Ramones’ “Rockaway Beach,” The Rolling Stones’ “As Tears Go By,” Paul Collins’ “Walking Out On Love,” The Replacements’ “Bastards of Young,” Generation X’s “Kiss Me Deadly,” and the oft-covered “I Fought the Law.” They also did one Green Day song, “Stay the Night” from 2012’s ¡Uno! (so, not a classic, but still a rare chance to hear Billie Joe sing a Green Day song in a tiny venue). You can see the full setlist and watch a bunch of videos, including of the Ramones and Stones covers, below.

The Longshot do it again at Coney Island Baby tonight (5/23) and then they play Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn on June 1. Both are sold out.
