Two Minutes to Late Night Chelsea Wolfe

watch Chelsea Wolfe & friends cover Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train" on 'Two Minutes To Late Night'

Two Minutes to Late Night, the heavy metal talk show that tapes at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus Bar, have been getting their musician friends together to do quarantine-style cover songs lately, including one of Weird Al’s Devo parody “Dare To Be Stupid” (with members of Khemmis, Thou, and more) and one of Steely Dan’s “Reelin’ In The Years” (with Marissa Nadler, Spirit Adrift’s Nate Garrett, and more). Here’s their third one, a cover of Ozzy Osbourne‘s “Crazy Train” with lead vocals by Chelsea Wolfe and contributions from her main collaborator Ben Chisholm, longtime Dillinger Escape Plan bassist Liam Wilson, Rough Francis drummer Urian Hackney, 2M2LN house band (and Cave In/Mutoid Man) member Stephen Brodsky, and 2M2LN’s own Gwarsenio Hall (who shreds on this one).

The last two covers have been on the fun, humorous side, but this one is a legitimately cool reinvention of the song that would be worth listening to even if it didn’t come with an entertaining quarantine-style video. They transposed the song into a minor key and made it a little slower and doomier, taking inspiration from John Carpenter’s Halloween theme, Type O Negative, and Chelsea Wolfe’s own material, and the result is something that’s immediately recognizable as “Crazy Train” but also kinda sounds like it could be a Chelsea Wolfe song. Check it out below.

Two Minutes To Late Night writes:

Good evening, Ghouls and Gentlebones. Please leave your bags on the platform, you won’t be needing them. You see, you’ve bought yourself a one-way ticket to the spooky train. Destination: Crazy Town. Come, my lady!
