Courtney Barnett Livestream

A lot of artists have been hosting livestream performances from their homes ever since COVID-19 caused all touring to grind to a halt. Sometimes it will be a song or two, and artists like Ben Gibbard having been playing an hour nightly. Or, if you’re Courtney Barnett and Lucius, you host a four-hour marathon livestream featuring a bunch of your talented friends, including The War on Drugs, Sharon Van Etten, Kurt Vile, Kevin Morby & Katie Crutchfield, Fred Armisen, Sheryl Crow, Bedouine, Nathaniel Rateliff, Emily King, and Lukas Nelson. That happened on Sunday via Instagram Live and they were raising money for the Oxfam COVID-19 Relief Fund. If you missed part or all of it (watching your phone for four hours is a long time), the whole thing has now been uploaded to YouTube.

Courtney & Lucius played 14 songs over the course of the livestream, including their own songs and a whole bunch of covers, including Wilco’s “Jesus, etc,” Skeeter Davis’ “The End of the World,” Gerry & The Pacemakers’ “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” Leonard Cohen’s “So Long Marianne,” and Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man.”

Other covers from throughout the livestream: Sharon Van Etten covered The Velvet Underground’s “I Found a Reason,” Kevin Morby & Katie Crutchfield covered Songs: Ohia’s “Farewell Transmission,” Kurt Vile covered Courtney’s “Everybody Here Hates You” and Emily King covered Boyz II Men’s “On Bended Knee.” You can watch the whole thing below.

You can also still donate to Oxfam’s COVID-19 Relief Fund directly; make a instant $20 donation in the U.S. by texting OXFAM to 20222, or you can Venmo @LUCIUSxCB in the US as well.
