Dinosaur Jr‘s tour with Mastodon was cancelled due to a “critical situation of a member of the Mastodon family,” but Dinosaur Jr decided to make up for it with some intimate shows of their own. It’s always special to see a legendary band like Dinosaur Jr in rooms as small as they’re playing on this tour, but the venue sizes aren’t the only treats on this tour. Multiple stops have had guest appearances. Easy Action (another band of Negative Approach frontman John Brannon) has been opening the tour, and Brannon’s been joining Dino on select nights. In Grand Rapids on 9/15, Brannon and The Meatmen‘s Tesco Vee joined for Negative Approach, Meatmen, and Stooges songs.

At Toronto’s Opera House the following night (9/16), Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew came out to help Dino with “The Wagon” during their main set, and Fucked Up frontman Damian Abraham came out in the encore to cover “I Wanna Be Your Dog” by The Stooges and “Chunks” by Boston hardcore vets Last Rights. Check out videos of all of those aforementioned appearances below.

Dinosaur Jr played Jersey City’s White Eagle Hall last night (9/19), again joined by Brannon and also Don Fleming (pictures coming very soon). They play Port Chester, NY’s Garcia’s at Capitol Theatre tonight (9/20).
