watch gv.grace's provocative, NSFW video for "Fuck Golf"

LA-via-Denver’s gv.grace is the duo of married couple Genevieve (of the now-defunct indie folk band Paper Bird) and Griff Dymond (of Inner Oceans), and they’ve been releasing a series of provocative, high-concept songs/music videos. The latest, “Fuck Golf,” premieres in this post. The song is eccentric art pop that fans of St. Vincent might dig, and the video is as carefully constructed and attention-grabbing as the song. It’s full of off-kilter choreography, and lots of nudity. Genevieve tells us, “Silence is consent. Fuck Golf is me not consenting to classism and homogenization. Vocally it’s a parody of waspy privilege but underneath there’s a seething contempt for the gated communities and manicured lawns. I want to shine a light on what is censored and whitewashed. I want to misbehave.” The video was directed by Elise Mesner, and has cinematography by Michael Atallah. Watch/listen below. Needless to say, it’s NSFW, but there’s also a censored version.

The duo have one upcoming show at the moment, a hometown gig on 10/10 at The Hi Hat opening for Plastic Picnic.
