Waxahatchee and Kevin Morby are currently playing some solo shows together, ahead of new albums. Kevin announced his album last month, while Waxahatchee’s is still TBA but she did promise new music for this year.

The tour wrapped up in Baltimore last night (4/2), after hitting Jersey City for shows at Monty Hall on Thursday (3/30) and Friday (3/31). The Jersey shows had a different great opener each night: Mary Lattimore on night 1 and Julie Byrne on night 2 (one night after Julie opened for Weyes Blood In NYC). Friday’s show was super sold out and packed, yet you could hear the sound of a pin dropping even for Julie Byrne’s opening set. Kevin ended his set with a cover of The Velvet Underground’s “Oh! Sweet Nothing” that night. Pictures of Friday’s show are in the gallery above.

At the Baltimore show, Stereogum points out that Waxahatchee (aka Katie Crutchfield) and Kevin Morby joined forces for a stripped-down, melancholic cover of Everclear‘s 1995 hit “Santa Monica.” They sound pretty damn great doing it — watch a video below.

Katie Crutchfield and Katherine Simonetti will be playing some Waxahatchee duo shows on tour with The New Pornographers this year, including NYC’s Terminal 5 on April 26 (tickets). As of today, The New Pornographers are streaming their new album.

Speaking of Everclear, they’re doing a 20th anniversary tour for So Much for the Afterglow (the album after the one with “Santa Monica”) this year.
