Kurt Vile on 'Animals'

watch Kurt Vile as a very mellow squirrel on HBO's 'Animals'

HBO’s new animated series Animals was created by Mark & Jay Duplass (Togetherness, Baghead, The Puffy Chair) which is very much in the Duplass Brothers’ loose style of humor, while being very New York-centric and still about the various species of critters that also call this city home. The show features a Who’s Who of comedic vocal talent (seriously, everybody is on Animals) and there have been a number of musician cameos as well. This Friday’s episode focuses on squirrels and features mellowed out indie rocker Kurt Vile as the rodent version of himself. He shares a new song — and some nuts — with a few other squirrels who wandered into his tree. Watch a clip of it below.

The “Squirrels” episode of Animals airs Friday at 11:30 PM on HBO. Non-rodent Kurt Vile plays NYC’s Panorama in July.
