New Orleans punks PEARS have made a video for “Comfortably Dumb” off their recently-released self-titled album on Fat Wreck Chords. PEARS’ music kinda straddles the line between raging hardcore and snotty pop punk, both of which very much inform this song, and the grainy, VHS-style video looks as ’90s as the song sounds. Though, as guitarist Brian Pretus explains, it’s also inspired by our current era:
The video is an abstract glimpse of the modern digital age. For better or worse, people spend a lot of their time numbed out in cyberspace, and the setting for the video is basically a tripped out computer world, connecting human art with glitchy binary nonsense.
