watch Operator Music Band's "Moto Komplete" video, catch them on tour

Brooklyn motorik analog synth lovers Operator Music Band released the Coördination EP at the end of 2017, a further exploration of the krautrock-tinged, Stereolab-influenced sound. You can stream the whole thing below. The EP’s dark, creepy closing track, “Moto Komplete,” now has an equally unnerving (and very cool) video, made by James Siewert. The video premieres in this post and the band’s Jared Hiller told us a little about it:

What you get is a Lynchian retro sci-fi nightmare carousel turning endlessly upon itself, revealing with clock-like precision the results of a telephone repair exorcism gone awry. It took my breath away when I first saw it in motion. It was shot in my’s family’s used clothing import/export warehouse. And that the whole video was shot on a motorized circular rig that the director built from scratch, where the camera was suspended perpendicular to the ground and shot through a mirror.

There are also some Nine Inch Nails and Matrix vibes going on here in that bullet-time rotoscope kind of way. Watch the video below.

Operator Music Band also will be on tour soon, with a few NYC-area shows: Kingston, NY’s BSP Lounge on February 10 with Widowspeak’s Robert Earl Thomas and EMEFE’s Miles Francis (more info); Brooklyn’s H010 on February 27 with Shana Falana, Lip Talk, and Toyzanne (tickets); and Brooklyn’s Alphaville on March 30 with Trace Mountains and Spirit Was (tickets).
