NYC’s City Winery, which closes its Varick St location at the end of the month in anticipation of its 2020 move to Pier 57, is also celebrating its 10th anniversary with some tribute shows, and last night (7/24) they hosted one honoring local legend Lou Reed. The only announced performers were fellow NYC legend Patti Smith (and her bandmates Tony Shanahan and Lenny Kaye) and Suzanne Vega, but the concert also ended up boasting appearances from The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn, New York Dolls’ David Johansen, The Feelies’ Glen Mercer, and Marshall Crenshaw.
