watch Phoebe Bridgers cover Japandroids' "The House That Heaven Built"

Four years before Phoebe Bridgers released her excellent debut album Stranger in the Alps on Dead Oceans, she put out a cover of Japandroids fan fave “The House That Heaven Built,” which at that point was just one year old. She recorded the song in the same stripped-down, folky style that her own music is in, and her twist on the song is a great one.

Phoebe is on tour now, and she broke out that cover again in Japandroids’ hometown of Vancouver, at Cobalt last Tuesday (4/24). It was captured a fan-shot video, and she sounds even better doing the song now than she did in 2013. Watch the video and stream her original recording of the cover, below.

Phoebe has more shows coming up, including a run with American Football, The National’s two-day NYC fest, NJ’s XPoNential Fest, and NJ’s soon-to-reopen Asbury Lanes.
