Testament Rush

watch Testament, Anthrax & Suicidal Tendencies members cover Rush in isolation

At least two Testament members tested positive for COVID-19 (frontman Chuck Billy, who says he’s doing much better, and bassist Steve DiGiorgio), but thankfully it looks like guitarist Alex Skolnick is in good health. He teamed with fellow thrash legend Charlie Benante of Anthrax and current Suicidal Tendencies bassist Ra Díaz for a recorded-in-isolation video cover of “YYZ” by Rush, whose Neil Peart sadly passed away earlier this year. Charlie writes:

Here is our version of the @Rush classic #YYZ – @rush inspired all 3 of us to be better musicians. #alexlifeson #geddylee and the great #neilpeart 💜 not only played amazing, they also wrote some of the best songs. We are honored to play a little #YYZ for you. Hope this magic music makes your morning/afternoon Alex Skolnick and Ra Diaz are so Amazing – I 💜Rush

And Alex adds:

Happy Sunday! So one bit of good news in light of everything: The quarantine has triggered some fun projects: My 1st virtual video collab w others (far from the last) joining [Charlie Benante] & [Ra Díaz]. This is 4 all you Rush fans.

Just last Friday, Testament released their new album Titans of Creation, which I reviewed in the same edition of Notable Releases that features an album by a former Suicidal Tendencies bassist, Thundercat.
