watch The Menzingers & Jeff Rosenstock cover The Bouncing Souls at MHOW ++ pics
The Menzingers wrapped up their tour with Jeff Rosenstock and Rozwell Kid with a sold-out show at Music Hall of Williamsburg last night (4/2). It was the second of two sold-out NYC shows on this run, after their larger Irving Plaza show this past Thursday (3/30).
As you’d expect from a packed, small-ish Menzingers show, the crowd was a constant sea of moving bodies, raised fists, and just about every lyric was screamed verbatim. They opened up with the first song off their new album, “Tellin’ Lies,” which got the place from 0 to 100 real quick and it stayed there all night. During the encore, Jeff Rosenstock came back out on stage to join The Menzingers for a cover of The Bouncing Souls‘ “Kate Is Great.” They delivered it with all the spirit you’d hope for, and sounded great doing so. The collaboration with Jeff was also genuinely unplanned. Jeff tells us: “It happened one other time in Orlando during the second show of a two-night thing at the Social. On both occasions, I had no idea they were playing it but ran to the stage because I love that song.”
We’ve got a short clip of them playing the song at MHOW, which you can watch below. (The Menzingers also recorded that cover for their split with The Bouncing Souls in 2013.)
Jeff Rosenstock’s set was also as high-energy as ever, and ended with him riding around on an audience member’s shoulders while playing the saxophone. A video of that is below too.
Pictures of the show are in the gallery above.
coming soon. Stay tuned.
