Tower Records closed its last stores in 2006 after 46 years as one of the most iconic record store chains in the business. The last one in NYC, the Lincoln Square branch, closed in December of that year. The E. 4th St. location went shortly before that. All Things Must Pass, the documentary made by Colin Hanks (Tom’s son), tells it’s story and has received favorable reviews at festival screenings like SXSW.
