Weaves cover The Beatles' "Help!" (listen), on tour with Cayetana now, add free Rough Trade show

Toronto band Weaves have released a cover of The Beatles’ “Help!” One of the nice things about Beatles songs is they’re so well known, it really allows more license to really mess with them, which is what Weaves do here. They basically deconstruct it into one of their own songs, with a loping beat and minimal skronky backing. Yet it is still instantly recognizable as “Help!” Check it out:

If you haven’t checked out Weaves’ terrific and very fun debut album, you can listen to that below. The band are in the midst of their summer North American with Cayetana which hits NYC this month at Mercury Lounge on Wednesday, August 24 (tickets) and Baby’s All Right on Thursday, August 25 (tickets). Weaves will also play a free show at Rough Trade on August 24 which they’re describing as a “short, stripped down in-store performance.” that’s at 7 PM.
