Webster Hall's renovations could take 18 months (or more)
The last night of Webster Hall as we know it is Thursday (8/10) with Action Bronson & Friends in the Grand Ballroom and a “Girls Night Out” party in the Studio. After that, the historic NYC venue closes for renovations under new owners Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment and AEG Presents. According to an interview with current VP of concerts Heath Miller in AM NY, that renovation period will take at least 18 months:
Miller, 36, said staff was told there would be forthcoming changes to the venue when the Ballingers announced plans to sell the club to Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment and AEG Presents nearly one year ago.
“When I was first told about the sale, it was supposed to be a short closure for minor renovations and I was told the buyers had plans to retain the venue, but now the closure period has grown to 18-plus months and that plan has switched from a short-term closure to a long-term closure,” Miller said.
The renovations include plans to transform the existing Marlin concert room, one of five party spaces in the venue, into a waiting room, according to documents filed by Manhattan Community Board 3 in April.
Still, Webster Hall will likely reopen before The L Train’s Canarsie Tunnel.
As for the “Friends” portion of the Action Bronson show, Webster Hall hasn’t revealed any of the other performers, but Wifisfuneral tweeted that he’ll be among those on stage:
