WFMU Fundraiser Marathon underway; Yo La Tengo playing requests in exchange for pledges this weekend

WFMU is the midst of their two-week Fundraiser Marathon which runs now through March 20. The annual event includes, “DJ tag teams, questionable on-air stunts, incredible prize giveaways, and special surprise guests!” Among them, Yo La Tengo will return to play cover song requests in exchange for $100 pledges. They’ll be playing them live from WFMU’s Monty Hall on Saturday, March 12 from 3-6 PM Eastern, with hosts Todd-O-Phonic Todd and Gaylord Fields. To request a song go to their make-a-pledge page and…

See where it says CREDIT PLEDGE TO . . . and the + sign labeled “click to add show”? If it doesn’t already read Todd-o-Phonic Todd, scroll
down until it does. Then click on that + sign. When you get to the box labeled “Special mail info, comments, please, etc,” make your request.

Yo La Tengo won’t see the requests till the show starts, and this show won’t be archived, you’ll just have to tune in live. In other news, YLT guitarist Ira Kaplan will be on WFMU’s Duane Train program today (3/9) from noon – 3 PM.

The WFMU Fundraising Marathon Grand Finale happens Sunday March 20th at 7pm and features the Hoof and Mouth Sinfonia, and a live karaoke band comprised of staffers, which will have a live video feed from WFMU’s website.

In other news: Yo La Tengo’s spring tour has them at Loew’s Jersey Theatre on April 9 (tickets).
