While Lollapalooza and Osheaga have sucked away a good portion of name bands for the weekend, there are still plenty of fun music things to do. This afternoon Amadou & Mariam and Theopolis London play a free show at Central Park Summerstage; Union Pool’s afternoon Summer Thunder series continues with Baltimore noisemakers Dope Body, plus Call of the Wild and Gentlemen; and Rippers out in Rockaway Beach is throwing a boardwalk party with Clouder, Dead Stars, Friend Roulette, Huntronik, Eastern Hollows and Blackout. All of these shows are FREE.

You could also head to Cameo tonight to see Ryan Jarman of The Cribs (whoa-oh!) play his first-ever NYC solo show with Jen Turner from Here We Go Magic, Jeffrey Lewis (!), Devin (!!), and Penn Badgley (?!? the Gossip Girl dude?). Tickets are still available. Then stick around Cameo for Mondo! which is the city’s premier indiepop dance party.
