The Barclays Center opens tonight with the first of EIGHT Jay-Z shows. Any guesses on surprise guests? Are you going?

Of course, not everybody is happy about Barclays and Big Development in Brooklyn so expect protesters outside, not to mention a free screening of documentary Battle for Brooklyn that screens at Dean Street Playground Ball Field at 8 PM, a mere half block from the arena.

Jay-Z’s DJ, Young Guru, and Talib Kweli will be DJing at Free Candy (905 Atlantic Ave) after the Barclays show tonight. Talib, who’s on at midnight, will also be DJing earlier at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester with Questlove and Q-Tip for the “Soul Planetarium” party that’s happening there.

Arrested Development are celebrating the 20th Anniversary of their debut album, 3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days in the Life Of, at BB King’s tonight by playing it front-to-back. Tickets are still available and there are a couple classic videos from that album below.

Twin Shadow plays Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight with Niki & the Dove, while his former bassist Russ Manning performs at Rush Midnight at Cameo right down N. 6th St. with Splash and Rarechild (tix). Then later tonight, Twin Shadow will DJ his own afterparty at Brooklyn Bowl which is free entry with your MHOW ticket or $8 without.

Tonight Patti Smith will be discussing Andy Warhol at the Met as part of the museum’s Regarding Warhol exhibition which just opened. It’s sold out but you can stream audio from the talk live at 7 PM.
