Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows. Here are some highlights…

Dillinger Escape Plan, Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Norma Jean, Cattle Decapitation @ Best Buy Theater
Dillinger Escape Plan’s pulsing, tech-heavy live show headlines Best Buy Theater tonight, roping in support that ranges from borderline-jazz trio Animals as Leaders to vegetarian-brutality from Cattle Decapitation. Thankfully, Ben Weinman’s broken hand has not sidelined the crew, healing just in time for the dates. Expect moshing, flashing lights and jaw-dropping acts of instrumental prowess.

Summerscreen w/ Dope Body, Hubble, GDFX @ McCarren Park (FREE)
Tonight in McCarren Park, they’re screening Speed, and before that there will be live music curated by the folks at Shea Stadium: Baltimore noise rock faves Dope Body, Hubble (the experimental project of Ben Greenberg from The Men/Pygmy Shrews), and former Liturgy drummer Greg Fox’s experimental GDFX project. Adding to the excitement: if any of these bands play songs longer than three minutes, something might blow up.

Jimmy Eat World, Royal Bangs @ Central Park Summerstage
Though they’re a bit of a mediocre alt-rock band these days, Clarity is a ’90s emo classic and its poppier followup, Bleed American, ain’t too shabby either. Tonight they land in NYC to headline Central Park Summerstage, which should be a nice night in the park for emo nostalgists.

Lawrence Rothman, Vows, Gambles @ Glasslands
Enigmatic singer Lawrence Rothman seemingly appeared out of nowhere with his slinky single “Montauk Fling” and a deal with filmmaker (and recent Bowie video director) Floria Sigismondi’s new label Mamaroma. Consider us cautiously curious.

Suppression, ALien Triology, Brad Pit, Beach Creeps @ Death By Audio
Recently reactivated Virginia grindcore act Suppression (now a duo) are back with their first new album in nearly a decade.

Nothing Changes w/ Marshstepper, Jock Club, Foreplay @ Home Sweet Home
Destruction Unit related project Marshstepper headlines Nothing Changes tonight, looping in Jock Club and NYC’s Foreplay for the show at the fabled goth-leaning night at Home Sweet Home. Prepare for an evening of noise, fog, and great dancefloor jams in between bands.

Rumors, Monogold, Bedfellows, Roz Raskin and the Rice Cakes @ Pianos
Is it just us or is there a residency at Pianos every night these days? Tonight it’s week one of Monogold’s August Residency, and they’ll be back every Wednesday of the month.

Sharkmuffin, Shark is typing…,Shark Boy (members of La Big Vic), Shark Water @ The Living Gallery
Clearly someone at The Living Gallery is really into Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week.” We do have to wonder why Shark? aren’t playing this show.

Silversun Pickups, Mona @ The Paramount
Silversun Pickups aren’t hitting NYC on their current tour, but they’re in the area for this past Monday’s Port Chester show and tonight’s Long Island show.

Megadeth, Device, Gigantour @ Hammerstein Ballroom
With close to thirty years of records behind them, Megadeth has some formidable material to draw from for a live show. Let’s hope that Dave Mustaine’s ultra-right wing politics don’t turn the show into a political rally instead of what it should be: a jaw-dropping show of ass-kicking, influential thrash metal of the highest caliber.

Big Terrific @ Cameo (FREE)
Max Silvestri hosts this weekly free comedy show that tonight welcomes guests Sam Simmons and Dan St. Germain
