Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows. Here are some highlights…

Butter The Children, Field Mouse, Porches, Turnip King @ 285 Kent Avenue
This show is ostensibly a release show for Butter the Children’s new EP, but the whole show is great way to check in on four quality, new-ish bands.

Ulrich Schnauss, Chrome Canyon, Heathered Pearls (DJ Set) @ Cameo Gallery
While he doesn’t stray far from the very specific sound/niche he carved for himself, Ulrich Schnauss is very good at what he does — dreamy, electronic shoegaze. Openers Chrome Canyon sound they were beamed directly from 1982. Expect theremins.

Ski Lodge, Tashaki Miyaki, See Through, Kip of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart (DJ Set) @ Glasslands
Tonight’s the record release party for Ski Lodge’s debut LP, Big Heart, which is reason enough to go, but don’t miss LA’s Tashaki Miyaki either, who owe more than a little to the dusty sound of Mazzy Star.

Andy Bell of Erasure, Howard Jones @ Irving Plaza
It’s a double dose of ’80s synthpop hitmakers; Andy Bell is the powerful pipes behind Erasure; Howard Jones is still asking “What is Love?”

Julianna Barwick @ Judson Memorial Church
Julianna Barwick’s gorgeous new album, Nepenthe, is out today (stream it via Gorilla vs Bear), and she’ll be celebrating with this show in a church, that should be a very good environment for her heavily reverbed-out arrangements.

Overseas, Strand of Oaks @ Knitting Factory
New indie rock “supergroup” Overseas makes music that lives up to the expectations set by the band’s lineup (it sounds like it was made by them too). They’re in NYC tonight for their second of two shows with singer/songwriter Strand of Oaks, who is worth catching as well.

Celestial Shore, The Can’t Tells, Coastgaard, Empty Chairs @ Pianos
The Can’t Tells continue their Pianos residency today with a number of other local indie bands that make for a solid show.

The Underachievers, CJ Fly, Dillon Cooper, Danse Daimons @ Santos Party House
NYC rap duo The Underachievers have one of the better hip hop mixtapes of the year, which should appeal to anyone who also digs their recent tourmates Joey Bada$$ and Flatbush Zombies. Tonight, you can catch them headlining a show at Santos, which also includes CJ Fly of Joey Bada$$’s crew, Pro Era.

Lost Bayou Ramblers @ City Winery (FREE)
The Texas-via-the-bayou band are the entertainment at today’s edition of the free Hudson Square Music & Wine Festiva.

Briggan Krauss, Kappa Maki, Nels Cline, Satoko Fuji, Michael T.A. Thompson @ The Stone
Avant-garde pianst Satoko Fujii begins his week-long residency at The Stone tonight, and the late show (10 PM) features a number of other experimental musicians, including guitar great Nels Cline.

Naan Violence, Drunken Foreigner Band, Trabajo, Cody Ross Rex @ Death By Audio
As their name teases, Naan Violence take traditional indian instruments into new instrumental territories. The whole evening is not your typical night at DbA.
