Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows. Here are some highlights…

Kanye West, A Tribe Called Quest @ Madison Square Garden
Kanye’s got two of the biggest, if not the biggest, rap albums of the current decade under his belt, and an elaborate stage show to deliver the material live. This show, the last on his NYC run, is doubly special because it’s the second of A Tribe Called Quest’s two “final” shows.

Caspian, 65daysofstatic, The World is a Beautiful Place & I’m No Longer Afraid To Die @ Bowery Ballroom
This epically atmospheric tour descends upon NYC tonight with Caspian’s powerful post rock, 65daysofstatic who put a synth-rock spin on the genre, and TWIABP who make multi-layered emo.

Lou Reed Tribute w/ Arto Lindsay, Ivan Julian, Lenny Kaye, mems of TVTOR & more @ Bowery Electric
This huge Lou Reed tribute in a tiny room features many many musicians, including no wave legend Arto Lindsay, Voidoids guitarist Ivan Julian, Patti Smith Band guitarist Lenny Kaye, TV on the Radio’s Kyp Malone and Tunde Adebimpe, Lou Reed/Laurie Anderson/Marc Ribot collaborator Shahzad Ismaily, Light Asylum’s Shannon Funchess, Grooms’ Travis Johnson, People Get Ready’s Steven Reker, The Vaccines’ Justin Hayward-Young, Caged Animals, Drowners, Jeffrey Lewis, Kirin J. Callinan, Phantom Family Halo, Sam Mickens, and even more.

Weezer, Elliot & the Ghost @ The Paramount
It may have been quite a while since Weezer released a good album, but they still have fun live shows and it’s always a treat when you get to hear those old favorites. They’re only doing a few dates this month, and this Long Island show is the closest they’ll get to NYC.

Overkill, Kreator @ Stage 48
German thrash legends Kreator and NY thrash legends Overkill play two NYC shows at Stage 48 together this weekend, this being the second. Read our recent interview with Overkill.

Magmana, Glass Ghost, Stranger Cat @ Glasslands
Sharon Van Etten/Sufjan Stevens collaborator Cat Martino recently began working as Stranger Cat, a more electronic-tinged project than her other work, but still one with her knack for art pop dynamics and great songwriting.

S O H N, Empress Of, Daniel James @ Mercury Lounge
SOHN recently signed to 4AD and makes the kind of indie/R&B that’s been in style lately, and Empress Of isn’t on 4AD, but her brand of art pop is not too far removed from another artist currently on that label, St. Vincent. This is their first of 2 NYC shows this week.

TOO GAY FOR BROOKLYN: An Evening of Cabaret with Julie Klausner @ Joe’s Pub
Writer/comedian Julie Klausner is in the midst of her 5-night TOO GAY FOR BROOKLYN run at Joe’s Pub, where she promises to “sing some goddamn songs.” This is night 3.

Comedy Night w/ Hannibal Buress @ The Knit
Big league comedy talent (Chris Rock, Louis CK, etc) show up regularly (and unannounced) for Hannibal’s very popular free comedy show at Knitting Factory’s front bar. Get there early.

Some other good local shows tonight:
* Bueno, Killer Bob, Bodyparts, Friend Roulette @ Muchmore’s
* Zebu, Guerilla Toss, Blanche Blanche, Fat Creeps @ Death By Audio
* The Beets, Happy Jawbone Family Band, Judy Blooms @ Shea Stadium
