Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows. Here are some highlights…
Beyonce @ Barclays Center
Beyonce just came out of nowhere with a surprise new album which fit right in to a year that saw some of the biggest stars in pop music, like Kanye West and Justin Timberlake, making ambitious, forward-thinking music. It’s been the talk of the internet, and maybe even of your real life, and with all this excitement it’s great timing that she has tonight’s Barclays Center show coming up, her second in the past week having played the venue this past Thursday.
Brand New, Kevin Devine @ The Bell House
Brand New just wrapped up their NYC-area discography shows, hitting NJ and Long Island these past two days, and tonight they give us a third bonus show. They’re not promising an album in full for this one, but at least it’s right here in Brooklyn and at the intimate Bell House.
Eternal Summers, Splashh!, Bleeding Rainbow, Little Big League @ Glasslands
This is Kanine Records holiday party, featuring Roanoke Virginia’s Eternal Summers, Splashh singer Sasha Carlson, and Philadelphia’s Bleeding Rainbow and Little Big League.
Ronnie Spector @ BB King’s
Ronnie Spector and Christmas go together like tinsel on a tree, and her NYC holiday concerts are always something to look forward to.
Preservation Hall Jazz Band @ Brooklyn Bowl
Have a Creole-style Christmas when these New Orleans jazz legends head north for this holiday show.
Buster Poindexter @ Highline Ballroom
David Johannsen’s martini-swilling lounge lizard alter-ego Buster Poindexter celebrates the “Holidaze” in his tongue-in-cheek big band style.
Reverend Billy & the Stop Shopping Choir @ Joe’s Pub
Longtime anti-capitalist crusader Reverend Billy concludes his Sunday ministry / residency at Joe’s Pub tonight.
Bobby Womack @ City Winery
R&B legend Bobby Womack, who released the terrific The Bravest Man In The Universe (produced in part by Damon Albarn) last year, is back in NYC for a three night stint at City Winery, this being night 3.
Justin Vivian Bond @ Joe’s Pub
Justin Vivian Bond and friends are about to kick off their “Let It Show!” 2-night stand at Joe’s Pub. The description reads, “Celebrate the return of the light with Justin Vivian Bond and friends with an evening of Holiday inspired songs and stories. Expect surprises! (bring your own lumps of coal and watch them turn into diamonds) Keywords: starstruck, babies, booze, ox and ass. Oh Come All Ye Faithful!”
Yo Gabba Gabba! @ Beacon Theatre
Yo Gabba Gabba! Live!, the touring version of the Nick Jr. show that is known to feature indie/alternative music, returns to Beacon Theatre for six holiday shows this weekend. The final two are tonight.
Hannibal Buress @ Knitting Factory
Big league comedy talent (Chris Rock, Louis CK, etc) show up regularly (and unannounced) for Hannibal’s very popular free comedy show at Knitting Factory’s front bar. Get there early.
Ikue Mori, Fred Frith, John Zorn @ The Stone
No wave legend Ikue Mori wraps up her residency at The Stone tonight with an early duo set with avant-sax great John Zorn (8 PM) and a late duo set with avant-guitar great Fred Frith (10 PM).
