The Bouncing Souls, Youth Brigade, Lost In Society, The Ratchets @ The Stone Pony
NJ punk heroes The Bouncing Souls kick off the return of their four-night ‘Home for the Holidays’ shows at home state venue The Stone Pony tonight. Like every night, there’s three openers, all chosen by The Souls, so expect a well-curated bill of punk each night.
Tiga, Nikola Baytala, Black Light Smoke @ Output
Long-running Montreal dance producer Tiga (who’s collaborated with James Murphy, Chilly Gonazales, and others) returns to NYC tonight for Output’s weekly INPUT party.
Kidnap Kid, Henry Krinkle, Alan Blancato @ Glasslands
Another dancey option tonight is Kidnap Kid, who’s in from the UK to headline Glasslands. His recent single, “Survive” / “Thin Lines,” provides an excellent double dose of house bangers. You can stream both tracks below.
Talib Kweli (DJ set) @ Brooklyn Bowl
It’s a special edition of Brooklyn Bowl’s weekly Bowl Train party that has Talib Kweli DJing instead of the usual Questlove. Hopefully he’ll have some holiday surprises in store.
John Zorn Improv Night @ The Stone
The Stone’s founder and artistic director John Zorn holds his annual Improv Week which is a benefit for the venue. Tonight features Marty Ehrlich (sax), Tim Keiper (drums), Chris Speed (reeds), Matt Wilson (drums), Anthony Coleman (piano), Steve Swell (trombone), Ty Citerman (guitar), Zeena Parkins (harp), and Zorn himself on sax.
