What’s going on Monday? (Speedy Ortiz, Vacation, Mas Ysa)

Speedy Ortiz at Irving Plaza in January (more by Amanda Hatfield)
Speedy Ortiz

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Speedy Ortiz @ Other Music
Northampton indie rockers Speedy Ortiz are about to release their Real Hair EP tomorrow, which gives us four more tracks at least as good as the material on 2013’s Major Arcana. Tonight they celebrate that with a free in-store at Other Music.

Vacation, Nancy, Flykills @ Cake Shop
Cincinnati’s Vacation make poppy punk (but not exactly “pop punk”), and having just played NYC as part of the Don Giovanni showcase last week, you’ll now get another chance to see them, headlining Cake Shop tonight.

Mas Ysa, Pictureplane, Logan Takahashi, Dutch E Germ, Michael Beharie @ Glasslands
NYC indie pop dude Mas Ysa celebrates his new Worth EP at Glasslands tonight. Good openers too, and it’s especially worth seeing Pictureplane whose electronic pop always gets a party started.

Night Train w/ Wyatt Cenac @ Littlefield
Hop aboard Wyatt Cenac’s weekly Night Train comedy show at Littlefield tonight. This week’s guests include Michael Che, Laura Swisher, Byron Bowers, John Roy, and Jacqueline Novak.

For all of tonight’s shows, and tomorrow’s, check out our NYC concert calendar.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
