What’s going on Monday? (Memorial Day, Field Mouse, Adult Dude, Mas Ysa, Miles Davis Way block party, more)
Field Mouse at Pianos in 2012 (more by Jessica Amaya)
Happy Memorial Day! If you’re staying in NYC and looking for something to do tonight, check out our Memorial Day guide. You can also browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, and here are some more highlights…
Adult Dude, Field Mouse, Lithuania, Grassfight @ Cameo Gallery
Some good local bands at Cameo tonight including Adult Dude who have likely listened to a few Superchunk and Dinosaur Jr records, and Field Mouse who put a poppy twist on shoegaze.
Mas Ysa @ Rough Trade
Mas Ysa has been one of the rising musicians in NYC indie pop as of late, and tonight he graces his hometown with a free 6:30 show at Rough Trade.
Miles Davis Way Block Party
They’re renaming the part of West 77th St in Manhattan (between Riverside Dr and West End Ave) Miles Davis Way in honor of the legendary jazz musician, and in celebration of its opening there’s a block party today form noon to 2 PM which is free and open to the public.
Green-Wood’s Annual Memorial Day Concert
While this isn’t the sort of thing we normally cover, any excuse to visit Brooklyn’s amazing Green-Wood Cemetery should be taken, especially one that involves live music (though visiting when you have the place more to yourself is an even better experience). Starts at 2:30 PM with music from the ISO Symphonic Band.
Wyatt Cenac’s Night Train comedy show at Littlefield has been cancelled for tonight.
For all of tonight’s shows, and tomorrow’s, check out our NYC concert calendar.
For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
