You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Destruction Unit, Uniform, Drew McDowall, Honey @ The Studio at Webster Hall
Destruction Unit’s psychedelic punk piles on the aggression, is tripped-out as hell, and the kind of thing you just have to see live. If you’re at all into this kind of stuff, D Unit is not to miss (good openers too). Though if you do miss it, or just need to see it again, a little birdie tells us you won’t have to wait very long for that.

Milk ‘n’ Cookies, Spires, Ludwig Persik, High Waisted @ Baby’s All Right
Legendary ’70s cult “wimp rock” band Milk N Cookies could be seen as the originators of the sound nearly every band on Burger Records is trying to ape. With reissues due on Captured Tracks later this year, the band are back in action and tonight’s is their first in NYC in ages.

The Black Lips, Night Birds, Night Beats @ House of Vans
House of Vans is gonna get roooooowdy tonight with the wild garage rockers Black Lips, skate/surf punk rippers Night Birds, and psych-garage trio Night Beats. It’s free if you RSVPed (which is now closed), but still first come, first served.

Walter Martin (of The Walkmen) @ Madison Square Park
While his Walkmen bandmates Hamilton Leithauser and Peter Matthew Bauer have made serious solo records, Martin has gone a little lighter making a record with kids in mind that parents won’t want to “accidentally” run over with the car. This show is part of the free “Oval Lawn Series.”

Au Revoir Simone @ MoMA
Having been together for 10 years now, ARS still sound fresh on their most recent album, Move in Spectrums. Tonight’s show is part of the MoMA Nights series and is free to attend with museum entry.

Vince Clarke of Depeche Mode, Daniel Miller @ MHOW
Two of the forefathers of what we now call synthpop, Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode, Erasure) and Daniel Miller (Mute Records founder who also released the seminal “Warm Leatherette” single as The Normal) will DJ tonight. Could be fun and if you go be sure to wish Vince a happy birthday!

Lydia Lunch, Doomsday Student, Tripping Landlocked Infidels @ Trans Pecos
No wave legend Lydia Lunch plays another NYC show tonight, and it should be a fun one: outside the venue at 5 PM and with a BBQ (inside if it rains). Also on the bill, Doomsday Student (ft. ex-member of noise rock vets Arab on Radar), Dark Sister, and Tripping Landlocked Infidels (aka Fritz Welch + Kevin Shea). The venue also hosts a $3 afterparty at 11 PM.

Motion Studies, Semi Femme, Maymind @ Union Pool
A night of postpunky fun to be had here, with Godmode-signed Motion Studies (DFA style dancerock), Semi-Femme (new band from Leif Anders of Orca Team), and Maymind (ex-Spanish Prisoners).
