What's going on Tuesday? (How to Dress Well, Duck Down Holiday Party, Rhett Miller, Yelawolf, Gross Relations & more)

How to Dress Well @ The Slipper Room in June (more by Chris La Putt)
HTDW

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

How to Dress Well, Porcelain Raft, Heems (DJ) @ Glasslands
How to Dress Well continues to progress from his lo-fi R&B beginnings into a real-deal songwriter with much higher production, and this year’s “What Is This Heart?” is his best example of that yet. Tonight’s his first of two NYC appearances in NYC this week (though tomorrow’s will be a less conventional show), and this is one of the last-ever shows at the soon-to-close venue. Sold out.

Reflection Eternal, Black Moon, Smif N Wessun, Chelsea Reject, Niko Is @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
It’s Duck Down’s annual holiday party, headlined by Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek’s duo Reflection Eternal, who haven’t played since 2010. Fellow Duck Down vets Black Moon and Smif N Wessun are on there too, along two newer artists. BrooklynVegan is proudly co-sponsoring this one.

Yelawolf @ Gramercy Theatre
Fast-talking southern rapper Yelawolf returns to NYC to headline Gramercy Theatre tonight. He’s got a new album in the works for 2015. Maybe he’ll play some of that tonight.

Frenchkiss Holiday Party @ Baby’s All Right
Record label Frenchkiss is celebrating the holidays at Baby’s tonight and a special guest is promised. Any idea who it’ll be?

Rhett Miller, Jen Kirkman, Dave Hill, Wyatt Cenac @ City Winery
It’s Rhett Miller’s annual holiday show with a variety of music and comedy performers (Dave Hill is kinda both).

Gross Relations, Total Girlfriend Experience, Hounds Basket, Dahl Haus @ Knitting Factory
Recalling the fuzzy/synthy indie rock of bands like The Rentals, Brooklyn band Gross Relations make easily digestible pop of their own. They headline this local lineup tonight.

Dan St. Germain’s “Christmas Spooktacular” @ Union Hall
Famed bearded New York comic Dan St. Germain is bringing his stand up to Union Hall tonight. He’s truly redefined the comedy hustle, performing at every venue from The Stand to Conan in the past few months. Now, he’s showcasing his talents in his home turf and bringing some talented friends along with him. Joining the “Spooktacular” is none other than Brooks Wheelan (SNL), Jared Logan (Comedy Central), Kevin Barnett (Sleepwalk With Me), Jacqueline Novak (fresh off her new album “Quality Notions”), and comedy duo Team Submarine (Chicago Sketchfest, NPR, UCB).

Slonk Donkerson, Dances, Heliotropes, Jangula @ Rough Trade
Here’s a very solid lineup of Brooklyn indie, including the straight-up guitar pop of Slonk Donkerson and the heavy riffage of Heliotropes.

Estelle @ BB King’s Blues Club
UK R&B and soul star Estelle (best known in the U.S for her 2008 hit “American Boy” with Kanye West) will be back with her fourth album, True Romance, early next year. Get an early taste at this intimate show tonight.
