You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Sufjan Stevens’ ‘Round-Up’ w/ Yarn/Wire @ BAM
While Sufjan will release his first studio album since 2010 this March, ahead of that he’s premiering a new piece called Round-Up at BAM which continues tonight and runs through Sunday (1/25). Sufjan will be on electronics and new-music ensemble Yarn/Wire is on piano and percussion.

Zs, Mick Barr, Michael Beharie, Bryan Kasenic @ Le Poisson Rouge
Next week, NYC experimental band Zs will put out their first album as their current lineup of founder Sam Hillmer with Patrick Higgins and Liturgy drummer Greg Fox. Tonight the trio celebrate with a release show.

Ben Vida, Tyondai Braxton, Amirtha Kidambi @ The Kitchen
Composer Ben Vida premieres his new audio/visual piece Slipping Control (ver. 3) at The Kitchen tonight, part of the venue’s Synth Nights series. He’ll be on electronics and vocals, and joining him is former Battles member and past collaborator Tyondai Braxton and Amirtha Kidambi on backing vocals.

Brandon Seabrook, Nick Millevoi, Cyrus Pireh, David Scanlon @ Trans-Pecos
Those who like the avant-garde and the heavy (and aren’t seeing Mick Barr’s set at LPR tonight) will want to head to Trans-Pecos where guitar wiz Brandon Seabrook is playing, along with Many Arms’ Nick Millevoi (trio with Brandon Lopez and Ches Smith), Duluth guitarist Cyrus Pireh, and Pet Bottle Ningen‘s Dave Scanlon & Dave Miller with collaborator Chuck Bettis. This show was originally set to happen at Trans-Pecos but is now happening two blocks away.

Savages, Johnny Hostile @ Mercury Lounge
We’re now halfway through Savages’ nine-show NYC residency, and they seem to be getting comfortable with the new material they’re playing at these shows. We’re still hoping they’ll add “She Will” and “Flying to Berlin” to some of these shows’ sets. Sold out, but check Savages twitter — they have been releasing a few tickets at the door to most of the shows so far.

Darlings, Scully, Pill, Future Punx (DJ Set) @ Baby’s All Right
Tonight’s the record release party for Darlings’ new album Feel Better. It’s more of their brand of bratty guitar pop that always sounds good (no matter what is the style at the time). Good openers, too.

Haunting Renditions Live w/ Eliot Glazer, Har Mar Superstar @ Littlefield
Classically trained vocalist-turned-comedian Eliot Glazer (brother of Broad City’s Ilana Glazer) takes some of pop music’s most infamous songs and turns them into highbrow, sweeping ballads. A live version of his web series, tonight things get a little funky with Har Mar Superstar.

Alex Bleeker & The Freaks, King Cyst, Adam Friedland @ Living Room
Real Estate bassist Alex Bleeker lets his freak flag fly with his solo band, veering even more into Greatful Dead territory. Tonight’s show at the new Williamsburg location of The Living Room is also with Underwater Peoples labelmates King Cyst and comedian Adam Friedland.

Landlady, Heaven For Real, Leapling @ Union Pool
Indefatigable musician Adam Schatz is in like 20 bands, but Landlady is his baby, a mix of jazzy know-how and hang-loose indie rock. Their latest album, Upright Behavior, came on on the fine Hometapes label. Tonight’s show is with Halifax, NS’ Heaven for Real and Brooklyn act Leapling.

Hey Rosetta! @ Rockwood Music Hall
Newfoundland orch-pop outfit Hey Rosetta! are known for their spirited, string-laden live shows. The band’s new album, Second Sight, is out next week.

Big Terrific @ Cameo
Max Silvestri hosts the free weekly comedy show in the back of Williamsburg’s Cameo. No word on who’s performing tonight, but Max usually lets us know via his Twitter.
