A Place to Bury Strangers, Grooms, Ed Schrader’s Music Beat @ Music Hall of Williamsburg

Doomtree, Open Mike Eagle @ Highline Ballroom
It’s a good double header of alternative rap at Highline Ballroom tonight with Minneapolis collective Doomtree, who put out a new album on their own label last mont, and Chicago rapper Open Mike Eagle, who put out Dark Comedy last year.

Walter Schreifels & the Dead Heavens, Gates, Twin Strike, Descender @ Saint Vitus
Post-hardcore legend Walter Schreifels dives into the heavy psych and garage rock of the late ’60s for Dead Heavens, one of two newly-formed bands he’s fronting. Tonight’s the second of their three-show residency at Saint Vitus.

Jeffrey Lewis, Diane Cluck, Kid In The Attic @ Trans-Pecos
Jeffrey Lewis wraps up his tour with fellow folk singer Diane Cluck at this show presented by NYC Taper, so if you can’t make it (or want a memento), expect recordings of the show not too long after.

Nick Hakim, Honduras, Adrianne Lenker and Buck Meekv @ Mercury Lounge
This is a makeup show for Nick Hakim’s final date of his Mercury Lounge residency which was rescheduled due to Winter Storm Juno.

George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic @ BB King’s
The legendary George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic pushed the boundaries of rock, soul, funk and psychedelia on their classic early ’70s albums, and they’re still at it. Released late 2014, First Ya Gotta Shake the Gate was the first Funkadelic record in in six years.

Lauryn Hill @ Rough Trade
This is the first of Lauryn Hill’s nine NYC dates as part of her “Small Axe” acoustic tour. Sold out.

Not Suitable For Television: An Evening of Material Rejected from Television @ Littlefield
Jon Glaser, Sasheer Zamata, Mark Normand, Josh Gondelman, Matt Koff, Charla Lauriston, Jess Dweck, Nate Fernald, Luke Cunningham, Zhubin Parang share jokes that didn’t make it past TV censors, sketches cut for time, pitches gone awry and other ideas that never got on the tube.

Colin Hay @ City Winery
Who can it be now? It’s former Men at Work singer Colin Hay, who plays the second of his three City Winery shows this evening.
