You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Spoon, The Antlers @ The Wick
Spoon are such a consistently good band it’s easy to take them for granted. Last year’s They Want My Soul was yet another winner in their catalog. This is their second of two Brooklyn shows this week with The Antlers.

Ghostface Killah @ Good Room
Ghostface Killah has a tour coming up with fellow Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon, where they’ll be playing Rae’s 1995 debut in full. But Ghostface also put new music out this year (a very good collaborative album with Badbadnotgood) and has more on the way, which maybe we’ll get to hear some of tonight.

Reigning Sound, Quitty and the Don’ts @ Union Pool
Memphis garage rockers Reigning Sound are stopping in NYC tonight to play this show before heading off on a European tour.

Biz Markie, Masta Ace @ Herbert Von King Park
This free SummerStage show brings two New York vets together, Biz Markie and Masta Ace. Biz hasn’t released new music in years, though “Just A Friend” is probably never going out of style. Ace returned this year with a new album from his group eMC, The Tonite Show.

Slayer @ The Paramount
Thrash metal legends Slayer are releasing a new album called Repentless on 9/11, but ahead of that they’ve got four NYC-area shows. This is the second of a two-night stand at The Paramount, and they return for two more in July with King Diamond, Code Orange and others.

Ginger Baker feat. Pee Wee Ellis, Alec Dankworth & Abass Dodoo @ BB King’s
Thanks to his time in Cream, drummer Ginger Baker is pretty much a legend for life, but he’s also been doing interesting stuff much more recently like releasing the album Why? and the documentary that he’s subject of, Beware of Mr. Baker. Tonight’s his first of two shows at BB King’s this week, and if you’re going, just don’t request any heavy metal.

The Helio Sequence, Lost Lander @ Rough Trade
The Helio Sequence put their new self-titled album out on Sub Pop earlier this year, and it adds a lightly psychedelic touch to their sound. It’s good stuff, and you can hear those songs performed live today and tomorrow in NYC.

Oberhofer @ Elvis Guesthouse
Brad Oberhofer will release his new album, Chronovisions, in August and you can hear some of it tonight at this very intimate show.

Damien Rice, Josh Ritter @ Prospect Park
It’s a night of folk under the stars with Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice whose 2014 album My Favourite Faded Fantasy was his first in eight years.

Ask Me Another ft. Jim Gaffigan & Jeannie Gaffigan @ The Bell House
Another in NPR’s “Ask Me Another” live quiz show tapings, tonight features married couple Jim Gaffigan and Jeannie Gaffigan, who co-created TV Land’s new The Jim Gaffigan Show.

Active Child, Low Roar @ Bowery Ballroom
The harpist with a flair for glitchy R&B plays his second NYC show of the week in celebration of his new album Mercy.

Sam Amidon @ The Saint (NJ)
Sam will be performing with collaborator Bill Frisell and his trio on Thursday in Prospect Park, but you can catch the talented songwriter on his own tonight in Asbury Park.
