You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…
AC/DC @ MetLife Stadium
Last year AC/DC released their sixteenth album, Rock or Bust, which basically sounded the way they always have, and AC/DC’s case that’s totally fine. They’re playing a few off that on this tour, but mostly stacking their setlists with the hits.
Earth, Marc Ribot & Ikue Mori, Holy Sons @ Le Poisson Rouge
Masters of drone metal Earth return to NYC for their first of two shows with Emil Amos’ band Holy Sons. This one’s especially cool, because it also features a collaborative set from guitar great Marc Ribot and no wave pioneer Ikue Mori.
Darwin Deez, Strange Names, Junior Prom @ Baby’s All Right
Darwin Deez may have a quirky fashion sense, but his heartfelt guitar pop is pretty universal. Third album Double Down, due out in September, is another winner. Get a preview tonight.
Joseph Arthur @ City Winery
A talented musician and visual artist, Joseph Arthur usually shows off his skills at his shows, creating a painting as the show goes on. It might be considered a gimmick if he wasn’t so talented.
Alessia Cara, Sebastian Kole, Craig Stickland @ Bowery Ballroom
Def Jam-signed singer Alessia Cara has been picking up some buzz for catchy alt-R&B single “Here,” which will appear on her debut EP that drops this week. Tonight’s show is sold out.
Jason Lescalleet & Jean-Louis Huhta, David Grubbs @ Trans-Pecos
Experimental musician Jason Lescalleet returns to NYC tonight, this time for a collaborative set with Swedish musician/DJ Jean-Louis Huhta. Jean-Louis has been active since the ’80s, playing a number of bands including Cortex and Anti Cimex, and he’s currently a member of Skull Defekts.
