Madonna

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Madonna, Amy Schumer @ Madison Square Garden
Madonna’s “Rebel Heart Tour” hits NYC for its first three shows, featuring 500 pairs of shoes, 20 dancers, one giant crucifix, and a whole bunch of classic pop hits. Amy Schumer, too.

Motorhead, Anthrax, Crobot @ Jones Beach
Thankfully, Lemmy is feeling better after canceling some shows, and Motorhead’s tour makes its way to the NYC-area tonight. They’re supporting a new album, but you’re sure to hear plenty of classics. And plenty from Anthrax too.

Phil Lesh & Friends @ Central Park SummerStage
Fresh off a killer appearance at Lockn’ Festival, The Grateful Dead’s Phil Lesh returns to Central Park with vocalist Chris Robinson (of the Black Crowes) and more. It’ll likely be an awesome show with tons of Dead favorites.

Nick Diamonds, Hollerado @ Mercury Lounge
While we wish The Unicorns reunion lasted a little longer, Nick Diamonds’ new solo album City of Quartz is the closest he’s coming to sounding like that band since their initial breakup. Second of two NYC shows.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Michael Rault, EZTV @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
King Gizzard’s forthcoming debut for ATO, Paper Mâché Dream Balloon, lays off the gas pedal a bit, going for acoustic instruments (and flutes) instead of overdriven fuzz. Which King Gizzard we’ll get tonight, we’ll have to see.

Diana Ross @ NJPAC
The legendary Diana Ross has worked in soul, R&B, disco and more, and she has countless undeniable songs across multiple decades. There’s no NYC date on her current tour, but this Newark show is pretty close.

Honduras, Warehouse, Leapling, Breathers, Melt @ Shea Stadium
Atlanta indie rockers Warehouse play their first of two NYC shows tonight on this bill full of good local Brooklynites.

Kate Berlant, John Early, Jacqueline Novak, Kyle Mooney @ The Bell House
The very funny Kate Berlant headlines this night of comedy that also includes sets from Jacqueline Novak, SNL oddball Kyle Mooney and your host John Early. Sold out.

Eagles of Death Metal, Jesika Von Rabbit @ Bowery Ballroom
Eagles of Death Metal is the garage party rock band led by Jesse Hughes and QOTSA’s Josh Homme (though Josh rarely plays live with them), and this year they’re returning with their first album since 2008, Zipper Down. They’re on tour ahead of that, and this is the first of two sold-out NYC shows.

Um, Martin Bisi, Wharton Tiers, Escape By Ostrich @ Saint Vitus
Members of Alice Donut and Mustafina make up headining band Um, and NYC avant-rock staple Martin Bisi provides direct support.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
