What’s going on Saturday? (Oneida, Russian Circles, Venom Inc, Pill, Future Punx, Tall Juan, Honduras, more)

photo: Oneida at LPR in 2015 (more by Greg Cristman)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Russian Circles, Cloakroom, Wildhoney @ Saint Vitus
Post-metal greats Russian Circles always put on a hell of a show, and tonight’s sold-out Saint Vitus gig should be no exception. There’s great support too, from the sludgy Cloakroom and the shoegazy Wildhoney.

Oneida, Baby Birds Don’t Drink Milk, Dan Friel, The Big Ship @ Palisades
Venverable and improvisational Brooklyn indie rock Oneida headline this show but if you’re going do check out Kansas smudge-pop transplants BBDDM whose new album Burritos is out in March.

Pill, Future Punx, Acid Dad, Gingerlys, Surf Rock is Dead, Dreamcrusher, Vomitface @ Baby’s All Right
Pill, Future Punx, Acid Dad, Haybaby, Gingerlys, Surf Rock is Dead, Dreamcrusher, and Vomitface were named some of Brooklyn’s hardest-working bands of 2015 by Oh My Rockness and they’re all playing a OMR-presented show.

Tall Juan, Slavve, Sister Flowerz @ Berlin
Originally from Buenos Aries, Argentina, Tall Juan has been making music in NYC for a couple years now, and you may have seen him playing with another Juan (Wauters) at shows recently (and as part of The Beets). Like Wauters, he makes ramshackle, garagey folk-pop. Catching him at the downstairs grotto that is EV club Berlin should be pretty cool.

Venom Inc., Necrophagia, Metalfier, Extinction A.D. @ the Marlin Room at Webster Hall
While Cronos still leads his version of Venom, fellow “classic era” members Mantas and Abaddon have their own version called Venom Inc. They’re on the road with death metal pioneers Necrophagia, and hitting NYC tonight.

Dominant Life, Deli Girls, Machine Girl, Dreamcrusher, B L A C K I E, Dalek @ Trans-Pecos
There’s a lot of cool stuff on this bill, notably industrial rap from B L A C K I E and the back-in-action Dalek.

Bite It You Scum (GG Allin Tribute), Gozer, Moral Panic, Cruiser, DJs Paul Bearer (Sheer Terror) and Mick Collins (The Gories, The Dirtbombs) @ Grand Victory
GG Allin tribute band Bite It You Scum headlines this punk bill, and DJ sets come from the great Paul Bearer and Mick Collins. Sounds like a party.

Honduras, The Beverleys @ Mercury Lounge
Toronto punks The Beverleys kick off their tour with Brooklyn’s Honduras tonight.

Speed The Plough, Glenn Morrow’s Cry For Help, George Usher, Lisa Burns @ Cake Shop
Together for over 30 years, this New Jersey indie rock band founded by John and Toni Baumgartner (and has included members of The Feelies over the years) are still going strong, and just released their new album, Now, and you can check out a song from that below.
