Charly Bliss, Emily Reo @ Bowery Ballroom
Power popsters Charly Bliss went in a more synthy direction on this year’s Young Enough, but they haven’t fully abandoned the guitar jams that made a lot of people fall in love with them. Having just opened for CHVRCHES at Radio City last night, they headline this smaller NYC show tonight. Quality support comes from Emily Reo, who released her new album Only You Can See It on Carpark this year.

CHVRCHES @ Pioneer Works
Meanwhile, CHVRCHES also play a smaller NYC show tonight. It’s a free show at the unique warehouse space Pioneer Works and it’s part of an all-day event called CONVERGE that’s billed as a “celebration and exploration of technology and creativity.”

Gaby Moreno & Friends, Enjambre, El David Aguilar @ Prospect Park Bandshell
The free BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival continues tonight, and tonight’s show is also part of the annual Latin Alternative Music Conference. The headliner is multi-lingual, multi-genre singer/songwriter Gaby Moreno, whose latest album was a collaboration with Van Dyke Parks.

Kool Keith, Slam Section, Boat That Life @ Rippers
Abstract rap legend Kool Keith returns today with his new album KEITH on Mello Music Group, and he celebrates with this show which is part of the ROCK! AWAY! Music Festival at Rockaway Beach.

‘TINY CHANGES: A Celebration of Frightened Rabbit’s ‘The Midnight Organ Fight’ in conversation with Peter Katis, Craig Finn & Katie Harkin @ Rough Trade
The new Frightened Rabbit tribute album is out today and it features tons of the band’s talented friends and peers. To celebrate its release, contributors Peter Katis, Craig Finn, and Katie Harkin will speak at Rough Trade tonight.

Versus, SAVAK, Big Bliss @ Baby’s All Right
Versus’ first album in nine years is out next month but they’ll be celebrating tonight with a great bill of friends. You’ll be able to buy the vinyl a month early tonight. Note: this is an early one, with Versus on at 9 PM.

The Psychedelic Furs, James @ Paramount Theatre
A double header of alt-rock with loads of hits from “Love My Way” to “Laid.”

Dean Hurley (Twin Peaks Sound Designer) @ Public Records
Dean Hurley created all the ambient sounds for Twin Peaks: The Return, from the electrical hums to the white noise, and you can expect something similar at this show tonight.

Stef Chura, French Vanilla @ Rough Trade
Steff Chura’s new album was produced by Car Seat Headrest’s Will Toledo adding a little more crunch to their sound; French Vanilla make new-wave inspired, sax-fueled danceable post-punk.

The Messthetics (members of Fugazi), Lulu Lewis @ Union Pool
Featuring Fugazi’s rhythm section (Brendan Canty and Joe Lally) and experimental/jazz guitarist Anthony Pirog, The Messthetics making soaring, powerful, mathy instrumentals.

Dave Chappelle @ Lunt Fontanne Theatre
Dave Chappelle hasn’t toned things down for his Broadway debut, which runs through July 20. As is usually the case at Chappelle shows, no phones.

Bill Callahan, Chris Gantry @ White Eagle Hall
Bill Callahan made up for a six-year gap between records with the great new 20-song double album Shepherd in a Sheepskin Vest. Expect a lot of classics along with new stuff tonight.

Wiz Khalifa, French Montana, Moneybagg Yo, Chevy Woods, DJ Drama @ PNC Bank Arts Center
“The Decent Exposure Tour” features a slew of big-name rappers and it hits NJ tonight and Jones Beach next week.

Bad Gyal, Ms. Nina, Gooddroid @ Elsewere Hall
Reggaeton artists Bad Gyal and Ms. Nina are playing Warm Up tomorrow, but first they’re doing this Friday night show in Brooklyn.

Joanna Sternberg, Liam Kirby, Milky Maze, Michael @ The Glove
Joanna Sternberg released their new album Then I Try Some More on Conor Oberst’s Team Love Records today, and they’re also touring with Conor later this year. First, the NYC artist celebrates with this hometown release show tonight.

Baroness, Torche @ The Chance
Baroness recently released their new album Gold & Grey, and Torche released their new album Admission today, and both are great heavy rock records that find new and interesting ways to mix melody and aggression. Their tour together hits Poughkeepsie tonight and Long Island tomorrow.

Beach Slang, The Ratchets, Worriers, Lost In Society @ House of Independents
The Bouncing Souls’ Stoked for the Summer is tomorrow in Asbury Park, but first there’s this pre-party with heart-on-sleeve, Replacements-y punks Beach Slang, melodic/political punks Worriers, and more.

Lydia Ainsworth, Mima Good @ Elsewhere Zone One
Los Angeles-via-Toronto songwriter and composer Lydia Ainsworth just released her third album, Phantom Forest, full of shimmering, crystalline synthpop.

Jean Grae @ Joe’s Pub
Rapper, comedian, and podcast host, among other things, Jean Grae presents this “self-produced, composed and directed deep dive into the multi-hyphenate’s many lives.”

Matthew Dear @ Le Poisson Rouge
Matthew Dear is both a successful dance music producer and a maker of highly arty pop. Last year’s Bunny split the difference.

 ‘Saint Frances’ screening w/ Renata Zeiguer @ Industry City (Rooftop Films)
Rooftop Films hosts a screening of SXSW Film Festival award winner Saint Frances tonight with an opening set from ethereal, arty pop artist Renata Zeiguer.
