What's going on Friday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

The Bouncing Souls, The Bronx, Strike Anywhere, The Bar Stool Preachers @ Brooklyn Steel
NJ punk heroes The Bouncing Souls celebrated their 30th anniversary this year with a new EP, a book, and lots of touring, and they wrap up their busy year in Brooklyn tonight. The show has killer support from fellow US melodic punk vets The Bronx and Strike Anywhere, as well as UK ska-punks The Bar Stool Preachers. We’re also giving away a last-minute pair of tickets (click the link above for chance to win).

Kevin Devine and The Goddamn Band, An Horse @ Bowery Ballroom
Kevin Devine and An Horse are both celebrating 10th anniversaries of albums at this show, Brother’s Blood and Rearrange Beds, respectively. Those are two very solid records, and this should be a very fun night. They do it again at the same venue tomorrow too.

A$AP Ferg, Murda Beatz, Madeintyo @ Terminal 5
A$AP Ferg, who landed on our list of the 100 Best Rap and R&B Albums of the 2010s, not only makes good records, but always puts on rowdy, super-fun live shows. Tonight should be no different.

Puss ‘N Boots (Christmas Extravaganza) @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Puss N Boots, the twangy, jazzy trio of Norah Jones, Sasha Dobson, and Catherine Popper, are unabashed fans of the holiday season, having thrown musical Christmas parties for a few years now, and they just released the Dear Santa EP. This year, their annual Christmas Extravaganza happens at Music Hall of Williamsburg and you can expect a cavalcade of special guests. Last year, Bill Murray showed up — who’ll be on hand this year?

Marky Ramone’s Holiday Blitzkrieg @ Gramercy Theatre
Marky Ramone celebrates the holidays with Blitzkrieg show that promises to feature loads of Ramones classics as well as a few yuletide songs as well.

“Terry Riley at 85” @ Pioneer Works
To celebrate Terry Riley’s upcoming 85th birthday, Pioneer Works is presenting two unique nights of music. Tonight includes Terry and John Zorn as a duo, “Mandala Miniatures for Saxophone Quartet,” “Interpretations on Standards for Solo Piano,” and “Tread on the Trail.”

Cam’ron @ Villain
Killa Cam dropped his new album Purple Haze 2 this week, and he celebrates at this free show.

Tall Juan, Future Punx @ Knitting Factory Brooklyn
A mixer of traditional latin and garage psych, Tall Juan celebrates the holidays — and the release of his new “Plays Cumbia” single — with pals Future Punx tonight.

Kevin Barnes (Of Montreal), Christina Schneider @ (le) poisson rouge
Of Montreal’s Kevin Barnes and Locate S.1’s Christina Schneider are playing this “anti-xmas” holiday show tonight. We’re not sure what’s in store, but a little theatrics don’t seem out of the question.

A Murray Little Christmas @ Joe’s Pub (early show)
Drag vet Murray Hill’s “A Murray Little Christmas” shows are a NYC holiday tradition, and this year guests include Bridget Everett, Angie Pontani, Carmine Covelli, Nik Baker, and more.

Ana Gasteyer: Sugar & Booze @ Joe’s Pub (late show)
If you miss Ana Gasteyer’s presence on Saturday Night Live, she’ll be bringing her comedy and musical skills with this holiday-themed show.

Surfbort, Bodega, Weeping Icon @ Market Hotel
Three terrific (and terrific live) Brooklyn bands play this holiday show tonight: the always wild Surfbort; the arch, mega-catchy postpunk of Bodega; and taught, moody Weeping Icon.

The Slackers, The Pietasters, Mephiskapheles @ Webster Hall
The Slackers are on a holiday tour with Mephiskapheles, and this hometown NYC show is extra exciting thanks to additional support from yet another long-running ska band, The Pietasters.

Oxymorrons, Billy Dean Thomas, DJ SRRMN @ Rough Trade
Queens alternative hip hop staples Oxymorrons come to Brooklyn for a hometown area show tonight.

You can also find quality entertainment on almost any night of the week at: Barbès bar and performance space in Park Slope, LunÀtico in Bed Stuy, Nublu in the East Village, Blue Note jazz club in the West Village, The Stone in multiple locations, Comedy Cellar in the West Village, and Q.E.D. comedy club in Astoria.
