What's going on Friday?

Todd Terje & The Olsens @ T5, 2015 (more by PSquare)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Bryan Ferry @ Beacon Theater
The epitome of suave cool, Bryan Ferry returns to NYC to play a mix of solo and Roxy songs, plus probably a few covers too.

Todd Terje & The Olsens, Lindstrom, Jaga Jazzist @ Studio E Warehouse
This party, dubbed “No Bad Days,” features three Norwegian acts, including Todd Terje and his awesome live band The Olsens, his old “Lanzarote” pal Lindstrom, and the hard-to-define Jaga Jazzist. With Ferry in town (see above) maybe he’ll show up to sing “Johnny & Mary”?

Swans, Okkyung Lee @ Bowery Ballroom
Michael Gira is saying this year’s The Glowing Man will be the last album for the current Swans lineup. Fortunately, they’re going out on a high note — the album is just as colossal as its predecessors. Tonight’s their first of two sold-out NYC shows with Okkyung Lee.

Ice-T, Public Enemy, Naughty By Nature, Mobb Deep, Kurtis Blow, EPMD, Busy Bee, Melle Mel, Scorpio, Sugarhill Gang @ The Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk (The Art of Rap Festival)
If you’re a fan of ’80s and ’90s rap, Ice T’s touring Art of Rap festival should be right up your alley. Some of the best, most influential rappers of all time are on this tour, which hits Coney Island tonight.

The Bouncing Souls, Rocket From The Crypt, The Explosion, The Flatliners, Creeper @ Stone Pony Summer Stage
It’s the second of two Asbury Park shows for NJ punk heroes The Bouncing Souls this summer. This one has direct support from the excellent Rocket from the Crypt, who just played NYC last night.

Moon Duo, Liza Thorn @ Baby’s All Right
Bay Area motorik drone kings Moon Duo know how to drive the groove home.

Dead Heavens, Dave Hill, Squad Car @ Union Pool
Post-hardcore as we know it wouldn’t exist without Walter Schreifels (Gorilla Biscuits, Quicksand, etc). Dead Heavens gives Walter a chance to explore his ’60s psych/garage side. Comedian/musician Dave Hill is not to be missed either.

Eli “Paperboy” Reed @ Hearst Plaza
Part of the free Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival, Brooklyn soul and R&B singer is a charismatic entertainer, which should make for a lovely evening under the stars.

Davido, Antibalas @ Lincoln Center/Damrosch Park Bandshell Okayafrica: Afrobeat x Afrobeats
Modeled on Fela Kuti’s Africa 70 band, Brooklyn’s Antibalas have been NYC’s premier afrobeat ensemble for almost 20 years and headline this Lincoln Center Out of Doors show.

Cuddle Magic @ National Sawdust
Having been around for more than a decade, Cuddle Magic have just signed with Northen Spy. Tonight they’re inviting a bunch of friends to perform with them tonight, including Margaret Glaspy, White Hinterland, Joan As Police Woman, Bridget Kearney of Lake Street Dive, Delicate Steve, and more.

Danny L Harle & AG Cook, Doss, Hu Dat @ Output
PC Music’s Danny L Harle & AG Cook headline a show at Output tonight. Are they just a big joke or true pop hitmakers?

PFFR: Legacy IX @ Brooklyn Fireproof
The twisted minds behind Wonder Showzen, Xavier: Exterminating Angel, The Heart She Holler, will be showing a collection of their work, including the unaired WS pilot, and their “porn” film Final Flesh. Free.
