Kamasi Washington at The Meadows 2016 (more by P Squared)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Phish @ Madison Square Garden
Phish at The Garden is a jammy New Year’s Eve tradition. This is night three of their four-night run.

Gov’t Mule @ Beacon Theater
Another jammy option tonight is Warren Haynes’ band Gov’t Mule, who begin a two-night stand at The Beacon.

Second-to-last-night @ Cake Shop
The beloved Ludlow Street venue closes after New Year’s Eve and tonight features a surprise lineup of old friends, including a rumored reunion of ’00s indiepop punks caUSE co-MOTION.

Kamasi Washington, The Budos Band @ Brooklyn Bowl
Jazz crossover great Kamasi Washington is closing out 2016 with two Epic shows at Brooklyn Bowl with Budos Band. Tonight’s the first.

Sleigh Bells (DJ) @ Brooklyn Bowl
Immediately after Kamasi’s show, Sleigh Bells will be in the house for a late night DJ set.

Meek Mill @ Highline Ballroom
Don’t get caught up in the Drake beef. Meek was good before that all went down and he’s still good after. Catch him in NYC tonight.

Cymbals Eat Guitars, Haybaby @ Mercury Lounge
As they’ve done before, local(ish) band Cymbals Eat Guitars will wrap up the year with a NYC show. They released the great Pretty Years this year.

Justice (DJ Set), Crystal Castles, Hot Chip (DJ Set) @ Pier 94
Party like it’s 2008 with this triple threat DJ set from Justice, Crystal Castles and Hot Chip.

The Dictators NYC (playing Bloodbrothers), Palmyra Delran, Wyldlife @ The Bowery Electric
It’s the second of two year-end shows for The Dictators NYC, Handsome Dick Manitoba’s current version of NYC punk legends The Dictators. At this one, they’ll play 1978’s Bloodbrothers in full.

John Zorn @ The Stone
It’s the first of two annual end-of-year Improv Nights at The Stone which are benefits to help the venue stay afloat. John Zorn will perform with John Zorn (sax) Chris Speed (sax) Jim Staley (trombone) Brian Marsella (piano) Kris Davis (piano) Brian Chase (drums) Matt Hollenberg (guitar) John Schott (guitar) Ikue Mori (electronics) Okkyung Lee (cello) and many special guests
