You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Thou, Unearthly Trance, Wormwatcher @ Saint Vitus
Louisiana sludge greats Thou haven’t released an album since 2014’s Heathen, and while there isn’t any word on a followup yet, our fingers are crossed. Meanwhile, they’re playing three NYC shows this weekend, which should be a blast.

Kenny Dope, Eli Escobar @ American Museum of Natural History
It’s the first ‘One Step Beyond’ of 2017, and this one’s headlined by OG New York house DJ Kenny Dope.

FaltyDL, Bwana, Groovy Groovy, Sheepshead & Sophia MA, Akanbi, Yogic @ Good Room
FaltyDL calls NYC home but his beats often feel right out of the UK bass scene. He’ll move the dancefloor at hometown club Good Room tonight.

Donny McCaslin Group, Dave Douglas & High Risk with Shigeto, Daymé Arocena @ Le Poisson Rouge
This is a Winter Jazzfest show that should appeal to rock/electronic fans with Bowie collaborator Donny McCaslin and veteran trumpeter Dave Douglas playing with production wiz Shigeto.

SFD (Colin Stetson, Greg Fox, Trevor Dunn), House of Waters, The Westerlies, Yonatan Gat @ The Bowery Electric
One of the more out-there shows at Winter Jazzfest features a set from onetime Monotonix man Yonatan Gat, and the debut performance of SFD, the trio of saxophonist Colin Stetson, Liturgy/Zs drummer extraordinaire Greg Fox, and Mr Bungle’s Trevon Dunn.

Caged Animals, Jesse and Forever @ Chelsea Market
With a new album out imminently, Caged Animals play this free, early show at Chelsea Market (6:30 PM). Hit Dizengoff for some amazing hummus then catch some free heartfelt pop.

Flower Girl, Datenight, Plains, The New Ones @ Sunnyvale

Brooklyn band Flower Girl have been together for about three years, making charming folky pop indebted to Jonathan Richman and Camper Van Beethoven. Their new album Tuck in Your Tie-Dye is fresh out, and tonight’s the record release party.

Thick, Stuyedeyed, Surfbort, RIPS, Fruit and Flowers, Decorum, Sic Tic @ Baby’s All Right
Oh My Rockness’ is presenting their “Hardest Working Bands in Brooklyn” featuring bands you always see on other bills, here all playing one show together.

“50 FIrst Jokes” w/ Jo Firestone, Joe Pera, Nick Turner, John F. O’Donnell, Anna Drezen, and more! @ The Bell House
A mixture of 50 established NYC comedians along with “the best and brightest up-and-comers” share the stage to present the first new joke they’ve written since the ball dropped on 2017.

Darlene Love @ B.B. King Blues Club
If you still have the holiday spirit in you, Darlene Love does too and will be performing songs from A Christmas Gift for You From Phil Spector and more.
