It’s Fourth of July Weekend! Check out our guide to Fourth of July Weekend events in NYC. You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Wreckless Eric, Joe Jack Talcum (of Dead Milkmen) @ The Safari Room at El Cortez
Best known for his New Wave classic “Whole Wide World,” Wreckless Eric has a whole lot more where that came from, and is a great storyteller to boot. Paired with The Dead Milkmen’s Joe Jack Talcum (singer of “Punk Rock Girl”), this sounds like a fun Friday night.

Ginuwine, Boogie Blind @ Betsy Head Park
Maker of such hits as “Pony,” “Differences,” “Hell Yeah” and “In Those Genes,” R&B star Ginuwine plays this free show as part of of SummerStage 2017 that also includes a set from The X-Ecutioners’ DJ Boogie Blind.

Diarrhea Planet, Daddy Issues, Acid Dad @ Brooklyn Bowl
Nashville’s raucous Diarrhea Planet make the kind of punky, boozy guitar anthems that are perfect for sing-a-longs, fist-pumping, crowd surfing, beer chugging, beer throwing and other such behavior. Which is to say they’re a lot of fun. They’re on tour with fellow Nashvillians Daddy Issues and Brooklyn’s Acid Dad.

Flat Duo Jets, Daddy Long Legs @ Hill Country
Dexter Romweber has been making crazed rockabilly for 30 years now, and still puts on a wild show.

Shobaleader One, Daedelus @ Warsaw
Back in 2010, Squarepusher released Shobaleader One: d’Demonstrator, an album recorded with other musicians, and more recently he turned Shobaleader One into a fully-functioning live band. Squarepusher (aka Tom Jenkinson) plays bass in the band, and rest of the lineup includes Strobe Nazard on keys, Arg Nution on guitar, and Company Laser on drums. They made their NYC debut back in December at Le Poisson Rouge and they return for a larger show tonight. With glitch hop wiz Daedelus opening, it should be an awesome show all around.

‘Art of Rap’ w/ Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, DJ Chuck Chillout, 050 Boyz, Harlem 6, Mysonne @ NJPAC
The Art of Rap tour rolls through the NY/NJ area tonight for a stop at Newark’s NJPAC. Wu-Tang members Raekwon and Ghostface Killah are among the lineup, which was supposed to have included Mobb Deep before Prodigy tragically passed away last week. Presumably there will be some type of tribute tonight. Rae and Ghost are both on Mobb Deep’s classic The Infamous and they’re both among the many artists to publicly pay their respects to Prodigy.

My Teenage Stride, My Favorite, The Mells, Big Quiet @ ALPHAVILLE
It’s been a long time since NYC indiepop cult heroes My Teenage Stride released anything new but they just put out a new tape, Living in the Straight World, and celebrate tonight with fellow vets My Favorite.

Moor Mother, Dreamcrusher, Yatta, Monki @ Babycastles
Experimental rapper Moor Mother, noise artist Dreamcrusher, and more join forces for this show.

Daniel Bachman, Will Stratton, Darryl Rahn @ Baby’s All Right
Modern guitar hero Daniel Bachman is on tour now in continued support of last year’s self-titled LP. Having recently played Wilco’s Solid Sound festival, he makes his way to NYC tonight.

Fred Falke, DJ Tim Martell @ Brooklyn Bowl
French house producer Fred Falke has been at it for quite some time. While he hasn’t put out his own new music in a bit, he’s stayed active as a remixer and writer/producer this year. Tonight’s show is part of Brooklyn Bowl’s 8th anniversary celebration.

Big Business, Uncrossing @ Mercury Lounge
Sludgy stoner rockers Big Business returned last year with Command Your Weather. Now they’re back out on the road for another round of dates in support of it.

Bill Frisell, Thomas Morgan @ Roulette
Jazz guitar great Bill Frisell and bassist Thomas Morgan celebrate the release of their new album, Small Town, tonight.

Rabit, Drew McDowall, Sadaf, Cecilia @ Sunnyvale
This is a cool bill all around of electronic/experimental musicians, with Tri Angle’s Rabit, former Coil member Drew McDowall, noise/performance artist Sadaf, and Cecilia.

Dr. Lonnie Smith 75th Birthday Celebration @Jazz Standard
Jazz legend Dr. Lonnie Smith is celebrating his 75th birthday with a run of shows at the Jazz Standard. He’s doing two shows a night through July 2.
