What’s going on Friday?

Royal Trux
Royal Trux at Webster Hall in 2015 (more by PSquared)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Royal Trux, Acid Dad @ Market Hotel
Raw, scuzzy, often unhinged indie rock duo Royal Trux have influenced everyone from Primal Scream to Sleigh Bells and are best seen somewhere with a vibe that matches the band’s music. Market Hotel fits that description. Night 1 of two.

Lana Del Rey, Kali Uchis @ Prudential Center
Lana Del Rey released one of the best albums of last year with Lust For Life, and she’s now supporting it on her biggest headlining tour ever. Tonight she’s just outside of NYC at Newark arena Prudential Center, with quality support from Kali Uchis.

Yumi Zouma, Helena Deland @ Baby’s All Right
New Zealand’s Yumi Zouma tred the line between indiepop and lite R&B — it’s both delicate and danceable. Also playing this first of two nights at Baby’s is Montreal’s Helena Deland whose smoky vocals pair perfectly with the atmospheric but spare arrangements of her songs

Springsteen on Broadway @ Walter Kerr Theatre
The Boss continues his completely sold-out “Springsteen on Broadway” run at the Walter Kerr Theatre, which has now been extended through June! At these shows, Bruce plans to give fans shows “that are as personal and as intimate as possible.”

Hamilton Leithauser @ Café Carlyle
“Jacket required” is certainly not a problem for snappy dresser and former Walkmen frontman Hamilton Leithauser who continues his 10-night run at swanky dinner club Cafe Carlyle.

Alejandro Escovedo, Chris Stamey & Millie McGuire @ City Winery
Like last year, Alejandro Escovedo is doing a winter residency at City Winery which continues tonight. He’ll be performing his album A Man Under The Influence in its entirety, backed by a string section. Opening all shows is Chris Stamey of The dB’s, who will be joined by Millie McGuire.

Royal Thunder, Backwoods Payback, Heavy Temple @ Saint Vitus
Stoner rockers Royal Thunder are still riding high off the release of last year’s Wick. They headline Vitus tonight and they’ll be back at the same venue in February to open for The Atlas Moth.

Fetty Wap, Fatboy SSE @ Wellmont Theater
We’re still waiting on a proper followup to Fetty Wap’s hits-filled 2015 debut album, but meanwhile he’s been releasing a series of For My Fans mixtapes, and now he’s on his “FMF Tour,” hitting Montclair’s Wellmont Theater tonight, followed by two shows at NYC’s Irving Plaza.

Glen Hansard @ Town Hall
Glen Hansard releases his new album Between Two Shores today, and he celebrates with this sold out, solo acoustic show. He also plays Brooklyn Steel and Rough Trade next week.
