What's going on Monday?
You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…
Portugal. The Man, Tangiers Blues Band w/ special guest Bruce Springsteen @ Asbury Lanes
Asbury Lanes has been reopened for a little bit, but tonight is the official reopening party featuring none other than Asbury Park legend Bruce Springsteen (playing as a special guest with openers Tangiers Blues Band). Bruce in a venue this small is of course the biggest deal, but Portugal. The Man are headlining and it’s a pretty intimate show for them too.
Alexis Taylor, Moon Diagrams @ Elsewhere
Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor recently released Beautiful Thing, which is probably his most Hot Chip-sounding solo album. It’s good stuff, and he’s supporting it on tour now, hitting Elsewhere tonight with Moon Diagrams (aka Deerhunter drummer Moses Archuleta).
Beth Orton @ National Sawdust
UK singer-songwriter, who just launched her own label, plays her first of two National Sawdust shows tonight.
Stew & The Negro Problem @ (le) poisson rouge
Stew, who created the cult hit musical Passing Strange, plays with his band The Negro Problem tonight as part of Le Poisson Rouge’s LPR x 10th Anniversary celebration.
Delicate Steve, Breanna Barbara @ Rocks Off Concert Cruises
Guitar zen master Delicate Steve brings the good vibes and wicked licks to a boat tonight, with smoky singer-songwriter Breanna Barbara opening.
Butterboy with Jo, Aparna and Maeve @ Littlefield
A consistently fun, funny time, this week’s Butterboy features sets from Joe Zimmerman, Nimesh Patel, Ana Fabrega, Dewayne Perkins, Andy Iwancio, and more.
SiR @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Fresh off going on TDE’s full-roster tour, Inglewood R&B/soul singer SiR plays a smaller headlining show in NYC tonight. Earlier this year, he released the very solid November.
Aimee Mann @ Ocean City Music Pier
Veteran singer/songwriter Aimee Mann is touring behind last year’s great, somber Mental Illness. She plays two NJ shows this week ahead of Brooklyn’s Prospect Park with Superchunk on Thursday.
Jungle, Triathalon @ Brooklyn Steel
Breezy UK dance act Jungle have yet to follow up their 2014 debut (though they did just release a new single) but they’ll be playing all the songs you do know tonight.
