Bonny Doon

What's going on Monday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Bonny Doon, Robert Earl Thomas, John Andrews and the Yawns @ Rose Gold
Having been on the road with Snail Mail and Band of Horses, Detroit’s languid, folky Bonny Doon play this rooftop show at Elsewhere tonight with Woods/Quilt’s Jon Andrews and more. UPDATE: Show has been moved, due to weather, to Rose Gold.

Porches, Sunflower Bean @ East River Park
This SummerStage show was supposed to happen on Saturday, but was postponed due to weather and technical issues. It now happens tonight. 7-9 PM, free.

‘The Electric Acid Surfboard Test’ w/ PC Worship @ House of Vans
This is a free screening of documentary The Electric Acid Surfboard Test featuring surfer Dane Reynolds, 10 handcrafted experimental boards and a trip to Mexico. Hand-crafted experimental band PC Worship play live, too.

Ella Mai @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
UK singer Ella Mai has quickly gotten started taking off thanks to her R&B hit “Boo’d Up,” and it’s not hard to see why — the song is addictive. Tonight’s show is unsurprisingly sold out.

Jeremih, Teyana Taylor, Dani Leigh & friends @ PlayStation Theater
Chicago crooner Jeremih has been one of the leaders of alt-R&B for a few years now, and he’s currently in NYC for a co-headlining show with Teyana Taylor, who recently released one of the 7-track, Kanye-produced G.O.O.D. Music albums.

Butterboy w/ Maeve Higgins @ Littlefield
Jo and Aparna are off doing other things this week but Maeve Higgins and guest co-host Kevin Townley welcome comedians Todd Barry, Janelle James, Emmy Blotnick, Giulia Rozzi, and Joyelle Nicole Johnson.

NPR and WNYC’s ASK ME ANOTHER w/ Guests Awkwafina & Sasha Velour @ The Bell House
The popular NPR/WNYC comedic gameshow podcast, hosted by Ophira Eisenberg and featuring house musician Jonothan Coulton, this week welcomes rapper, TV personality and Ocean’s 8 star Awkwafina and drag queen Sasha Velour.

The Roast of History with the hosts of Chapo Trap House, Michael Wolf, Julia Shiplett, Rachel Pegram, Matt Strickland, more @ Union Hall
With a lineup including Chapo Trap House, Molly Austin (Comedy Central), Julia Shiplett (Crashing, The Moth), Rachel Pegram (Netflix), and more, this “roast” of historical figures recent and far past is shaping up to be the comedic political event of the summer, barring any last-minute sets from Cynthia Nixon.
