What’s going on Monday?
You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…
Torche, Wear Your Wounds @ Asbury Lanes
Torche are one of those bands who stick to a very unique, very appealing formula on each album, only changing it up slightly each time, and this years Admission sees them injecting a little shoegaze and some other new sounds into their usual sludge-pop. They’re now on tour with Wear Your Wounds, the more atmospheric post-metal project of Converge frontman J Bannon who just released their great new album Rust on the Gates of Heaven.
The Rolling Stones, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real @ MetLife Stadium
After The Rolling Stones postponed their tour due to Mick Jagger’s health issues, Mick recovered and they’re finally on the road and playing their first of two NYC-area shows tonight. The Stones need no introduction, and it goes without saying that the chance to hear their 50+ years of classic songs in person is always worth taking.
Peter Murphy (performing “Deep”) @ (le) poisson rouge
Peter Murphy’s 12-show LPR residency continues tonight where he’ll play his 1990 solo album Deep — a massive alt-rock hit that spawned one of his most classic singles, “Cuts You Up” — in full.
Butterboy Comedy @ Littlefield
Jo Firestone, Aparna Nancherla and Maeve Higgins are all hosting tonight’s Butterboy, which features guests Ophira Eisenberg (NPR’s Ask Me Another), Adam Newman (Comedy Central Half Hour, Letterman), Erin Jackson (Conan, This Week At The Comedy Cellar), Nori Reed (Comedy Central’s Clusterfest), and Gavin Matts (Comedy Central’S Stand-Up).
UV-TV, Personality Crisis, Unknown Sender @ Saint Vitus Bar
Onetime Florida post-punks UV-TV now call Queens, NY their home and celebrate the release of their new album, Happy, tonight.
Greg Fox @ The Sultan Room at The Turk’s Inn
Musician, drummer, and artist Greg Fox heads to newly-opened Bushwick venue The Sultan Room at The Turk’s Inn tonight, performing as part of the ongoing drummer series “Batterie.” Greg plays two sets at 9 PM and midnight, where he’ll be joined by fellow musicians Dave Harrington, Shahzad Ismaily, Michael Beharie, Stuart Bogie, and Ben Chapateau-Katz.
Tyler Childers @ Webster Hall
Tyler Childers is fresh off releasing his most psychedelic album yet, Country Squire, and he celebrates with this sold-out release show.
