What's going on Monday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

His Name is Alive, Mahogany @ Rough Trade
Warren Defever’s long-running experimental rock project His Name is Alive recently released an album of early demos and home recordings and has a new mixtape, ‘6teen OK,’ on the way. Who know what we’ll be in store for tonight?

Benny the Butcher @ Sony Hall
One third of the rising Griselda Records crew, ’90s-NYC-style Buffalo rapper Benny the Butcher has been unstoppable lately and he comes to the city that birthed his biggest influences tonight.

Jeanines, Pretty Matty, Plutoness @ Wonderville
Brooklyn duo Jeanines debut album is arguably made the best indiepop record of the classic sound variety (think C-86, K Recs, early Flying Nun) since probably Veronica Falls’ debut album. Alicia Jeanine writes mega-catchy minor-key tales of romance which are then fleshed out by Jed Smith of Brooklyn indiepop stalwarts My Teenage Stride who adds killer, melodic bass lines and drum parks worthy of Phil Spector or Joe Meek.

David Cross @ Union Hall
David Cross tested out the stand-up material that became the 2018 Oh Come On tour at a bunch of shows he called “Shootin’ the Shit, Seein’ What Sticks” that mostly happened at Brooklyn’s Union Hall. He’s shooting the shit again with another series of shows.

Sheena Anika & Augusta, Primitive Heart, Jerusha Trotman @ Trans-Pecos
Sheena Ozzella (Lemuria), Anika Pyle (Chumped, Katie Ellen), and Augusta Koch (Cayetana, Gladie) recently put their heads together for a great debut EP on Asian Man Records, where each artist takes the lead for one song and they all sing in unison on the fourth, closing track. Their first-ever NYC show is tonight.

Butterboy Comedy @ Littlefield
Jo Firestone, Aparna Nancherla and Maeve Higgins are all hosting tonight’s Butterboy Comedy show, and this week’s guests include a pair of Daily Show comedians (Roy Wood, Jr. and Ronny Chieng), along with Rosebud Baker (This Week At The Comedy Cellar), Dave Ross (Drunk History, The Late Late Show), Caitlin Cook (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Felonious Munk (Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore).
